Youth Services and Programme
SVSW aims to provide a safe, friendly and non-blaming environment to help young people understand and explore the impact of violence and/or abuse in their lives.
We also provide programmes for youth who are having difficulties managing their anger, and or other difficult emotions, without becoming violent and/or abusive themselves.
Programmes are tailored to individual and family/whanau needs, to help youth aged 12 to 18 years and their parents/caregivers, build safe and healthy family lives. Where possible, we encourage the input of parents and/or support people.
“Break Free” Programme
The Break Free programme is for young people aged between 12 and 18 years, of both genders, and of any ethnicity, who are protected under a Protection Order through the Family Court.
Its aim is to allow children and young people to break free from family violence.
Building Respectful Relationships Programme:
The programme offers participants skills and strategies to employ in order to manage their anger and other difficult emotions appropriately. It relies on participants practicing these new skills in order to reinforce and consolidate the new insights and learning.
The programme supports and promotes the development of new self-management and interpersonal skills to help build healthy relationships. All programme sessions have a workbook that participants use and take away with them.
Where possible this programme encourages the input of parents and /or support people.
We provide both group and individual programmes. If you would like to know more about the agency or inquire about doing a programme, please contact us.
